Sick Leave Requirements 

Do you have employees who are subject to Sick Leave Requirements?  Sick Leave requirements have been around for several years, but only in a couple of municipalities. Recently laws have been passed in several states and municipalities that require employers to provide Sick Leave for their employees.

Although the requirements vary by locations, some common requirements include:

  • Accrual based on hours worked

    • Example: accrue 1 hour for every 30 hours worked

  • Accrual eligibility based on location

    • Example:  accrue only for employees in California

  • Accrual eligibility based on length of service

    • Example:  accrual will begin after 90 days of employment

  • Carryover allowance

    • Example: 40 hours can be carried over to the following year

Each of these requirements can be addressed using standard SAP Time Evaluation functionality.  HR Focal Point has been working with our customers to automate these requirements, so that the employee’s receive their accruals in a timely manner.
